NOMEDA is the brainchild of us - the artists Leila “ EDDA “ Raabe and Hans “ NOMAD “ Reuschl.
It’s a joint venture art project of a couple, that lives and works together.
EDDA’s conceptual minimalism, coated in natural structures and olfactory impressions of the spices she uses , meet the raw , yet elegant language of lines and dots - NOMAD’s urban art morse code.
Together ,they create a new fresh language of artistic collaboration -much like a dance - that is free in form and expression, yet bonded by love, balance and aesthetics.
Sophisticated conceptual, minimalistic academic art (EDDA is a masterclass student of the Universität der Künste , Berlin) , meet the superheavy flows and linework of NOMAD (one of Berlin’s most legendary urban artists).
Their first series of works, that are shown here , were created during the lockdown period from march to July 2020.
The name of the series is “ANY WHICH WAY IS UP ” - which not only reflects the positive altruistic intentions of their work - but also describes the way these paintings can be hung/looked at.
The idea to turn a painting whenever you need a change of environment , might not be new, but it’s for the first time that artists created an entire show with it in mind.
It really shows that aesthetic is a universal language , which is not just reflected in NOMAD’s outlines , that inspire allegories from Toltec or African ornaments , over modern and Pop, to the Streetart of Keith Haring.
It is visible, as well as to be felt, and smelled. Created by the unique surface design expertise of EDDA - that is widely inspired by the alchemy of pigment making of the renaissance painters.
In this way , NOMEDA fuses the skills of more than one person or style : It’s a union of love and aesthetics , that we hope you will enjoy, as much as we do.
